The EU AI Act timetable, after the Digital Omnibus.
Most of the market heard "the AI Act was delayed." That is half true. Some obligations moved sixteen months. Others did not move at all. The table below is at article level, not press-release level.
| Date | Scope | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2 Aug 2025 | GPAI / general-purpose model obligations (Arts. 51–55) | In force. Untouched by the Omnibus. |
| 2 Aug 2026 | Most Article 50 transparency duties — chatbot disclosure, deepfake labelling, emotion-recognition and biometric-categorisation notices, deployer-side duties. | UNCHANGED. Applies as scheduled. |
| 2 Dec 2026 | Art. 50(2) marking duties for systems already on the market; new Article 5 prohibitions. | New date introduced by the Omnibus. |
| 2 Aug 2027 | Member State national AI regulatory sandboxes. | Deferred one year. |
| 2 Dec 2027 | High-risk obligations — stand-alone Annex III systems. | Deferred from 2 Aug 2026. |
| 2 Aug 2028 | High-risk obligations — Annex I embedded systems. | Deferred. |
